Talé LockettVeteran educator brings more than 16 years of experience to school

Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy has hired a new principal, veteran educator Talé D. Lockett. Lockett most recently served as principal at Baton Rouge Charter Academy at Mid City. He started his educational career as a math/ELA/special education teacher at Galena Park Independent School District and eventually became assistant principal at Houston Independent School District.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Lockett join our team in Lafayette,” said Raquel Square Ayles, regional director of the Lafayette charter schools managed by Charter Schools USA. “His extensive experience and data-driven instructional background will help our students excel. We have seen his experience first-hand in bringing students to their highest level in Baton Rouge and now we expect only the best for our students in Lafayette.”

Lockett received his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology counseling with a minor in special education from Southern University in Baton Rouge. He earned his Master of Arts in education administration from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX and is pending his doctorate degree in educational leadership from University of Phoenix, Phoenix, AZ.  He is also a Fellow of the Relay/GSE principal program.
